The plant foreman has indicated that he will consider a club visit. He has been resistant to large groups because of previous bad experiences, but has been accommodating visits of 2 or 3 collectors quite willingly. Hopefully a trip can be arranged.

A field trip is still being planned.  Still trying to reach the contact person.

To learn more about the Aurora area check out the 3 web sites below.

Morefield Mine, Amelia, VA

No need to wait for a club trip to this locality. The Morefield Mine, 45 minutes west of Richmond, can be visited whenever it is open by anyone willing to pay the entrance fee. Last I recall, the fee was $8 per person per day and the mine was open Tuesday - Saturday. I would suggest a phone call at (804) 561-3399 to check on the current fee and schedule before driving to Amelia.

We are hopeful that we can get permission for a quarry visit in the future. Nice calcite crystals and strontianite crystals can be found in this limestone quarry.
